The Student Recreation Center offers weekend hours for families to enjoy fitness activities and recreational sports together. Family recreation is an excellent way to workout with your spouse/lifemate and introduce your children to a healthy lifestyle.
To participate in family recreation hours, one person must be a member of the Student Recreation Center. Members are current UNCG students, faculty, staff, alumni, or retirees who purchase a Student Recreation Center membership and have a valid ID card. Current UNCG students' parents are welcome during Family Weekend hours when accompanied by the student.
For the Family Recreation Program, family members are defined as parents, member's spouse or lifemate, their children and parents. Brothers and sisters are eligible to use the Student Recreation Center if they are 18 years of age or older, sponsored by a current member, present a picture ID and pay a $5.00 guest fee. Brothers and sisters under the age of 18 are not eligible to use the Student Recreation Center unless accompanied by a parent.
Spouses/Lifemates and children, 18 years of age or older, are welcome to use all activity areas in the Student Recreation Center. Family members under the age of 18 are welcome, when accompanied by a parent, in the following facilities:
Table tennis tables are available for use on the second floor of the Rec Center and paddles can be checked out at the main desk. Table tennis balls are available for 25 cents each. Badminton nets can be installed on court three of the gymnasium (space permitting) and racquets and birdies are available for checkout at the main desk.
For safety reasons, children under the age of 17 are not eligible to use either weight room or cardio equipment.
Children under the age of 18 are only eligible to use the Student Recreation Center if they are accompanied by a parent or participating in a University sponsored program.
