Instructor Training Courses

On The Beat – Group Fitness Instructor Training


Learn how to teach all aspects of group fitness with this comprehensive course. Participants are prepared to teach safe and effective exercise classes. The focus of this class is to learn how to teach choreography based classes like Step, Kickbox, Move N Groove, Zumba, Cardio Dance and Hi/Lo.

  • Exercise Physiology
  • Music and Cueing

 

This course gives participants both the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to take any national group fitness instructor certification exam.

Student Fee: $49.00
Member Fee: $69.00

Following completion of the course, you may be eligible for employment as an instructor for the Department of Campus Recreation.

Personal Training Course


Learn all aspects of Personal Training with the ACE university program (www.acefitness.org). This course is designed to provide students with the education and practical experience needed to become a personal trainer. It will prepare students to take the American Council on Exercise National Personal Trainer Certification Exam.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Principles and Methods of Training
  • Communication Skills
  • Kinesiology
  • Individualized Exercise Instruction

September 9th – November 13th
Tuesday/Thursday 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Student Fee: $175.00
Member Fee: $225.00

Course fee includes all study materials. Sign-up at the Student Recreation Center Administrative Suite. Payment is due at the time of registration. Following completion of the course, you may be eligible for employment as personal trainer for the Department of Campus Recreation.
