Necessary Equipment
Harnesses are provided. Shoes are $20 a semester or $2 a day. Sneakers are adequate.
The Edge: UNCG's Indoor Climbing Wall
The Edge offers a chimney, slabs, an overhang, bouldering and a crack system. It provides exceptional indoor climbing for the first time beginner as well as the most seasoned veterans.
Never Climbed Before?!
Never climbed before? Well, come check it out! The Edge is FREE to UNCG Students and members of the Student Recreation Center (SRC).
Members must sign guests in and pay a $5 guest fee at the front desk of the SRC before coming to the climbing wall.
The Edge Staff will teach you everything you need to know! Introductory classes are given each day covering fundamental safety information. Belay certification classes and tests given each day as well.These classes are FREE, just ask an Edge staff member to show you the ropes!
New routes are created specially for the competition creating a fun, challenging atmosphere. There are women's and men's brackets as well as 3 experience levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). Prizes from Black Diamond and OA will be given out to the winners. Sign up sheets will be in The Edge during November, stop by and sign up.
