What is Intramural Sports?
The Intramural Sports Program is a program offered by the Department of Campus Recreation and is directed by the Assistant Director for Intramural and Club Sports. We offer a variety of competitive and recreational activities for the Campus population. Games are played against other UNCG students. Some activities include flag football, basketball, soccer and softball.
Who is eligible to play intramural sports?
Intramural sports is offered to all currently enrolled students free of
charge and everyone is encouraged to participate. Each student must show a
valid UNCG ID card in order to participate. Intramural sports is also open to faculty and staff who
are members of the Student Recreation Center.
What leagues are offered?
Currently, the Intramural Sports Program offers Men's, Women's and CoRec leagues. In an attempt to meet the competitive needs of our participants, both competitive and recreational divisions are offered. To see a list of what activities are available, please visit the Sign-Up Dates and Times page.
What is CoRec and what are the ratio of women to men on CoRec teams?
CoRec teams are comprised of both men and women playing together on the same team. Many sports offer CoRec divisions, including sand volleyball, flag football, softball, 6 person volleyball, basketball, and dodgeball. Each sport has particular rules in regards to the number of men and women playing at the same time.
Please refer to the Rules page for sport specific questions.
How do you sign up?
Both individuals and teams are welcome to sign up. Team Sport registration dates are listed in the University Recreation Calendar or on the Intramural Sports Sign-Up Dates and Times page.
When do games take place?
Games generally take place Sunday through Thursday from 5:00pm
- 11:00pm. Teams may play once or twice a week.
Where do games take place?
Intramural Sports games take place at the Student Recreation Center
or on the Recreation Field. The Recreation Field is located on
the south side of the baseball stadium.
Is there an entry fee?
At the time of sign up a $10.00 refundable forfeit fee will be collected
from each team entered in to the league. The fee will be refunded at the end
of the semester if the team does not forfeit any games or miss the mandatory
captain's meeting
What does a forfeit mean and how can I avoid getting one?
A team forfeits if they fail to have the minimum number of players present at game time. OR if a team fails to show up for their scheduled game they will receive a forfeit. If a team forfeits for what ever reason that team will lose it's $10.00 forfeit fee. It is the entire teams responsibility to know when it's games are scheduled and to show up on time (it is recommended that teams show up 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time so that games may begin on time). If a team forfeits twice it is removed from the league and will not be allowed to compete in playoffs.
Teams may also lose their forfeit fee if they fail to send a representative to the mandatory captain's meeting for that sport.
Are there job opportunities with Intramural Sports?
Each semester the Intramural Sports Program is always looking
and hiring sports officials. If you love sports and have a desire
to make some money contact the Assistant Director for Intramural & Club Sports at 334-5924. Officials
in each sport go through a paid training program. Training occurs
the week before the season and consists of classroom sessions
and practice games.
