About US

The Outdoor Adventures Program is the outdoor education and recreation component within the Department of Campus Recreation at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Outdoor Adventures is housed in the Student Recreation Center and has three main program aspects: The Adventure Trips and Clinics Program, The Rental Center (outdoor equipment rental), and The Edge (indoor climbing wall). Adventure Trips and Clinics

The Adventure Trips and Clinics Program provides an opportunity for the UNCG community to participate and explore various outdoor recreation opportunities. Trips venture all over the Southeast United States with the occasional trip heading to other domestic and international destinations. The majority of the trips and clinics are designed with the beginner in mind - providing many opportunities to learn and participate in different outdoor activities. Trips and clinics are offered in, but not limited to: Backpacking, Canoeing, Caving, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Sea Kayaking, and Whitewater Kayaking and Rafting. Adventure trips and clinics are lead by student and professional staff members trained to provide each participant with a safe, enjoyable, and memorable outdoor adventure. Rental Center

Whether you are looking to gear up for your own personal/group adventure or are in need of additional resources on local, state, or national parks in North Carolina then come to Outdoor Adventures Rental Center. The Rental Center provides basic camping equipment at a low rental cost to UNCG community members. In addition to gear rental, The Resource Center (located in The Rental Center) has FREE informational brochures and maps to assist in trip planning or discovering the perfect destination for your next outdoor adventure. The Edge

The Edge is UNCG's own indoor rock climbing facility. The Edge provides a safe, healthy, and challenging climbing environment for all skill levels. Climbing routes are designed to challenge each skill level from beginner to advanced. In addition, The Edge offers Belay Certification and the annual Spartan Summit Climbing Competition. Outdoor Adventures staff are on hand to show you the ropes! The Edge is free to all UNCG students and Student Recreation Center members. More information is available by clicking here.
